CODE OF PRACTICE FOR THE AWARD OF UNDERGRADUATE DEGREES


为规范管理学校学士学位授予工作,根据《中华人民共和国学位条例》、《中华人民共和国学位条例暂行实施办法》、《江苏省普通高校学士学位授予工作暂行管理办法》和国务院学位委员会《关于普通高等学校授予来华留学生我国学位试行办法》等文件精神,结合西交利物浦大学的实际情况制定本实施细则。

To regulate the undergraduate degree awarding process of XJTLU, in accordance with the “Regulations of People’s Republic of China on Academic Degrees”, “Interim Measures for Implementation of the Regulations of People’s Republic of China on Academic Degrees” and “Interim Management Measures of Jiangsu Province on Bachelor’s Degree Awarding”, and proceeding from the current status of the University, we hereby formulate the detailed rules stated as follows:

 

一、 学士学位的授予条件

I. Eligibility for Obtaining XJTLU Undergraduate Degrees

学士学位授予工作必须坚持德、智、体、美等全面考核的原则。符合下列条件的本科毕业生,可授予西交利物浦大学学士学位。

The undergraduate degree is awarded based on a comprehensive assessment of the students’ ethical, intellectual, physical and aesthetical development. Eligibility for students to obtain a bachelor’s degree are listed as follows.

(一)政治方面 Political Awareness

中国学生:坚持四项基本原则,遵守法律,遵守校规校纪;

Chinese students:They shall uphold the Four Cardinal Principles, observe the law and act in compliance with the University rules and regulations.

来华留学生:在政治上对我友好,遵守我国法律法规,遵守校规校纪;

Overseas students: They must be friendly to China, and respect her culture and customs, obey Chinese laws and act in compliance with the University rules and regulations.

有如下情形之一者,不授予学士学位:

Students will be deemed ineligible for a degree if they:

1、有反对四项基本原则的言行,经教育而不改者;(仅指中国学生)

Have committed violations of the Four Cardinal Principles and refused to rectify their violations after they have been informed (applies to Chinese students only).

2、在校期间受到治安处罚、刑事处罚;

Have received penalties for committing violations of public security ordinances or criminal activities during their study at the University

3、严重违反校规校纪,受到过严厉处分而无悔改表现者。

Have been penalized for serious violations of university rules and regulations and refused to rectify their violations.

(二)业务方面 Academic Performance

学习成绩良好,其历年各类课程学习、毕业论文(设计)和教学计划所要求的其他实践教学环节达到规定的学位授予要求,能较好地掌握本专业学科的基础理论、专业知识和基本技能,具有从事科学工作或担任专门技术工作的初步能力。

Students shall show satisfactory academic performance and have a solid grasp of fundamental theories, subject specific knowledge and skills, be capable of undertaking basic research or working in the area of their expertise, as proved by the assessment results in each kind of credit-bearing modules and the dissertation (final year project), in addition to the completion of any other required practical learning elements throughout their study period.

1、完成本科人才培养方案及专业教学计划的各项要求,达到毕业要求;

They have successfully completed the four stages of study and meet all requirements for graduation, as stipulated in the Framework for Undergraduate Degree Programmes and the corresponding Programme Specification;

2、学习成绩优良,学位课程学分达到规定的要求;

They have achieved satisfactory results in their modules, and have obtained sufficient credits from all credit-bearing modules as required. Detailed requirements are as follows.

(1) 规定年限内,通过课程总学分达 170 分(含大一至大三补偿性通过课程) i ;

A minimum of 170 credits for all modules passed (including those compensatory pass achieved at levels 0, 1 and 2.), which shall be earned within required registration periods.

i 参加‘2+2’ 或其它交换学习项目的学生他校获得学分按相关院校协议规定的比例折算成我校学分。
Students on 2+2 and other exchange programmes should have their credits earned from the cooperative institutions converted to XJTLU credits in accordance with relevant clauses in respective institutional agreements.

(2) 通过专业教学计划中所有“学位课程”;

Passing all ‘degree required’ modules as per each programme specification

(3) 大学三年级和四年级按照 30%:70%比例加权平均成绩达 40%;

A minimum of 40% for the overall weighted average out of Stages 3 and 4 of the programme based on a weighting of 30% : 70%;

(4) 毕业论文(毕业设计)达到规定要求。

Their dissertation (Final Year Project) meets the required standard.

在西交利物浦大学完成四年制大学学业的学生有资格获得利物浦大学学士学位, 其学位授予标准及其学位分级的操作说明在《西交利物浦大学四年制本科学位分级体系》中详细规定。

All 4+0 students who will have completed their four-stage undergraduate studies at XJTLU will be eligible for bachelor degrees awarded by the University of Liverpool. The regulations and specifications regarding the degree awarding criteria and the associated degree classification are detailed in <System for the Classification of Four-Stage UoL Undergraduate Degrees Undertaken at XJTLU>.

二、 学士学位授予程序

II. Degree Awarding Procedure

1、初审 Preliminary Review

各学院考官委员会根据学士学位授予条件进行初审并将结果报教务办公室。

The School Boards of Examiners conduct a preliminary review according to the eligibility requirements and refer the outcomes of the preliminary review to the Registry Office.

2、审核 Review

教务办公室审核初审结果及有关材料并将审核意见提交大学考官委员会审批同意后,报送校学位评定委员会评定。

The Registry Office shall examine the outcomes of the preliminary review, review the relevant documents and submit their recommendations to the University Board of Examiners for endorsement and then the University Degree Evaluation Board for approval.

3、 评定 Evaluation

学位评定委员会评定全校学士学位授予名单。学士学位获得者,由学校发给学士学位证书。学士学位授予情况报省学位委员会备案。

The Degree Evaluation Board is responsible for assessing and deciding the degree awardees. A bachelor’s degree certificate will be conferred upon awardees. All awarded degrees will be submitted to and be recorded by the Degree Evaluation Board of the Jiangsu Province.

三、本细则适用于西交利物浦大学本科毕业生的学士学位授予,外校普通本科毕业生在我校申请学士学位参照本条例执行。

The terms and conditions apply to the undergraduate degrees awarded to undergraduate students of XJTLU; and these terms and conditions can be referred to as guidance for graduates of external HE institutions applying for XJTLU undergraduate degrees.

四、本细则所指学位为中华人民共和国学位。

The “academic degrees” referred to in this policy are the academic degrees of the People’s Republic of China.

五、学位授予工作管理职能部门为西交利物浦大学教务办公室。

The Registry Office is responsible for the administration of the degree awarding process.

六、本细则从 2006 级开始执行。

The Code of Practice takes effect starting with 2006 cohort of students.

七、本细则由教务办公室负责解释。

The Registry Office is responsible for the explanation of this Code of Practice.
